Presenting information with the help of infographics is what’s trending these days. Infographics are a new way of reducing the complexities of text to pictures, in which data is delivered in a much simpler way as compared to long text paragraphs. However, this needs to be done with great skill because just having the right information is not enough. Following these simple steps can guide you to design a perfect infographic.

1. Pick out the main point and join the dots
Designing a captivating infographic is all about finding the story behind the raw data. To do so, it is extremely important that you evaluate the data thoroughly. Start with identifying the main points in the data that will gradually lead your way to a story, and create a design that links the scattered details given in the text. This will give you a structure to follow your design.

2. Analyse the data
Make sure you completely analyse the data before proceeding to the design phase. Lack of understanding is one of the reasons why some infographics turn out to be nothing but boring graphics. Try to blend in the facts and figures along with other details, while not overshadowing the main points.

3. Design an initial draft
Once you have got all the information, try to fix the pieces together. Create a basic visual representation of your idea in the form of a rough draft. This will not be the final design but an initial guideline to the client that will portray what you are actually planning.

4. Selecting a format
Now it’s time to give your scattered information a clear way. You can choose from a wide range of formats available included but not limited to, the simple bar charts, graphs, and pie charts. You can also opt for a diagram or a flow chart- whatever suits best to your data. Always try to present the information in an attractive way but keep in my mind that “simpler the better”. Make sure that the audience can understand your point easily.

5. Testing for perfection
Once you have created the final design, including all the colours, charts, details etc. start refining your work. Finishing touches give infographic the look you have in your mind. The perfect balance of data and visual representation makes an infographic perfect. To attain maximum perfection try testing every minor detail of your design. Show the final product to various people and evaluate all factors to deliver the best possible results to the client.

6. The reviews
After sending the final design to the client, try to keep a track of reviews that you get on your work. Your infographic can go online or print in some cases, so make sure you have designed everything accordingly. Ask people for their feedback, so that you can improve in your later designs.
